Dashlaunch Log

launch.ini defaults: fan, default dash, HDD vs USB

Most “Aurora won’t start” tickets are a default path in launch.ini pointing at a USB stick that is no longer inserted, or at FSD after someone deleted Freestyle. Dashlaunch 3.21 on kernel 17559 still does three boring jobs well: boot a dash, load plugins, keep the fan from cooking a Slim. XeUnshackle copies a session flavor of that idea to USB. Different save location. Same class of mistake.

Default dash

Point it at Aurora on HDD if that is the daily driver. Leave NXE reachable — button combos and “boot to retail dash” are how you prove NAND is sane. XeXMenu as default is a recovery personality, not a living room. FSD as default is how you inherit 2012 crashes. If OG Xbox loaders live in a folder, they are a tile, not the boot target. See OG compatibility.

Fan speed

Dashlaunch fan targets are why a Trinity can stay tolerable with a 2.5" SSD in the cage. Max fan is not a flex; it is a leaf blower in a bedroom. Too low plus a 2TB spinner in a Corona is how HDMI sparkles get blamed on software. Change one variable at a time. Save the ini to HDD on RGH3. On XeUnshackle, know whether you edited the USB copy that actually loads.

HDD versus USB

Persistent boxes: HDD. Exploit boxes: USB for Bad Update / XeUnshackle files, HDD for the game library if the Winchester is opened. Do not put launch.ini only on a stick you use to copy GOD files to a friend’s house. Do not install Dashlaunch to NAND from FreeMyXe to “make USB optional.” That brick is documented because it keeps happening.

Plugins live here too

A short plugin list from the plugins note belongs after the dash path works. Stealth after identity. xbdm after FTP is actually wanted. Live flags are not a substitute for a unique vault; that argument stays in Live + KV.

If Aurora path is wrong, the console is not “unhacked.” It is lost. Find the XEX, save the ini, stop flashing NAND.
