Dashlaunch Log

XeUnshackle vs FreeMyXe vs Dashlaunch in flash

Bad Update made every 360, including Winchester E, a homebrew machine for the length of a power cycle. The exploit is not the dashboard. After grimdoomer’s USB magic (1.3 aiming at instant Rock Band Blitz on 17559), you still need a payload that patches the hypervisor/kernel and loads plugins. That is where the names pile up and where people brick retail NAND.

XeUnshackle (Byrom90) applies a full-feeling HV/kernel patch set in the spirit of xeBuild RGH patches, then loads a slightly modified launch.xex from memory, copying lhelper to HDD or USB. Plugins listed in a USB launch.ini can load when you leave the app. Retail and even some devkit-signed XEX that run on RGH3 often run here — for the session. Power off, start over.

FreeMyXe is the other search term. ConsoleMods-style warnings are blunt: do not use Dashlaunch’s install-to-flash on FreeMyXe/Bad Update retail. You are writing RGH assumptions onto a NAND that is still retail. XeUnshackle already carries session Dashlaunch. RGH3 Trinity owners still use Dashlaunch 3.21 inside xeBuild images the way we did in 2022. Those are three different install stories. Mixing them is how “I just wanted Aurora” becomes a brick.

Bad Update is the lockpick. XeUnshackle is the evening. Dashlaunch in flash is the house keys. Do not melt the house keys into a hotel keycard.

Winchester players live in the first two sentences. Jasper/Trinity/Corona RGH3 players live in the third. Both groups launch Aurora. Both groups have a KeyVault. Only one group should ever see J-Runner’s “write image” as a daily tool.
